Product Overview
From Tradition to Tapestry
- Tapun Goer 4 is more than a hand woven wall hanging. It is a slow and soulful textile narrative, crafted by the women weavers of Assam’s Rabha and Bodo tribes. Using handspun and naturally dyed eri silk yarns, the weaving captures age-old traditions through delicate, deliberate design. Eri is a unique variety of silk which gets its name from era, the Assamese word for the castor plant that sustains the eri silkworm before it spins its cocoon. The only true ahimsa silk where the moth flies to freedom before the cocoons are spun into yarn.
- The composition of the silk wall hanging is a bold statement encompassing vast histories of migration and diverse tribal identities, making it a cherished part of the Aagor Collection. The Aagor Collection draws inspiration from the extra weft motifs seen in traditional Assamese drapes. In Bodo Culture, the word aagor signifies a motif or a pattern. Motifs are the beating heart of this collection, translated across mediums and material from eri silk to wood, weaving to woodworking.
- This wall hanging sits at the meeting point of beauty and meaning. Whether it is placed in a hallway, study, or living room, it brings a sense of calm and quiet connection. With its thoughtful weave and layered texture, it offers more than visual charm. It holds memory. It carries history. It speaks softly of the hands that made it.
